Diablo III and Blizzard’s Control.

It also means that players can be rewarded for playing the game. When people complain that you are playing Diablo III too much you could theoretically turn around and say that you made fifty quid by just selling items you don’t want. It is the best way to monetize the game because the buyer, seller and Blizzard all get something out of it.

For those worried about it breaking the economy of the game Blizzard have thought this out. They will make sure the use of real cash doesn’t de-value the items being sold. Also they will make sure that those willing to splash the cash won’t have an unfair advantage over those who put the time and effort in. Its about providing the best gameplay experience for every type of player. It also cuts down on account selling which is a problem that Blizzard are still facing in WoW.

I am thinking that most items will be priced along iOS App Store price lines. A couple of quid here and there. Then the super rare and powerful items will see prices in the twenties and thirties for those willing to pay. I like the idea that if you play the market well you can make the game pay for itself then get some extra cash in the process.

I’m still very excited for Diablo III. Sure I am disappointed that I won’t be able to play it on my laptop while on the go or travelling but it is a sacrifice I am willing to make to have a good game.

So when the game drops who will be willing to buy my wares?

If being connected to the internet keeps games free, or goes along way to keeping games free from hackers, then I'm all for it.

It might sound drastic and draconian. But for too long have the unscrupulous blighted the progress of the gaming industry.

    Good on Blizzard and Activision.
