Is the world ready for another World War 2 shooter?

It was a sub genre that was shot to death, Call of Duty, Medal of Honor, Wolfenstein and Battlefield are my fondest memories of the World War 2 heyday.

Allied Assault, Spearhead, Big Red One and 1942 the pinnacle of my PC gaming days, then the good times got played to death, just before a fresh impetuous was unleashed in the shape of Call of Duty 4, all things Modern Warfare. Now that modernism, is all but stale, and according to Rebellion Software, the market is ready for World War 2.

But do you agree with Rebellion Software, the guys, the girls who are hard at work on the 2005 sequel Sniper Elite V2.

In all fairness it would be nice to see a decent WW2 shooter, that is simply not a run and gun, noob fest, linear affair.

With both Rebellion Software and City Interactive devoting their working hours to the WW2 genre, hopefully? We can have a blast from the past.

I wouldn't say the market is ready for WW2 again, it only seems two minutes ago when Treyarch's War At War came out.

Fair enough it was 2008. Not that long ago, enough of the HD remakes, and the gravy train developing.

I beta tested WAW, back in the day.
