Rumour. Nintendo contemplating Wii U name change… But should they?

The internet rumour mill is working overtime, if it’s not about Microsoft or Sony’s next console effort, it’s about Nintendo’s next console, the Wii U. And the rumours are mostly about how much juice the aptly named Wii U can deliver? By what percentage (graphical/processing general eye candy) does it surpass current consoles? This much percent, that much percent, how much? But now the rumours are getting thicker and more juicy. So juicy that it’s been said, that the higher echelons of the Nintendo infrastructure/management team are contemplating a re-brand. Why?

We no nothing at the moment, bar the many internet aggregated rumours towards Nintendo’s forthcoming console, the Wii U. We and you as big Reggie put it! The most talked about rumour being. How much horsepower will it deliver? Well Crytek, the mother, the father of all things power hungry and extreme eye candy have played with a developers kit and they are very happy with their tests, so that to me is a damn good sign.

So as E3 2011 gets ever closer the internet rumour mill has being working vast amounts of overtime. What have Nintendo created? Project Cafe is a codename being used amply in one blog and another forum alike, the Wikipedia page refers to Nintendo’s next console as the Wii 2, the Wii HD, the Nintendo Stream and the Nintendo Feel, many rumours and many questions are just itching to be answered.

I’ll be honest with you. Being a die hard Final Fantasy fanboy, when I heard that the creators of my all time favourite RPG video game franchise were ready to throw down with Disney and attempt to combo effort I wasn’t exactly over the moon. To be even more honest I was more looking forward to a sequel for Final Fantasy X. Ironically out of the two games, Final Fantasy X-2 and Kingdom Hearts, it was the latter of the two which gave me more enjoyment (though I still stand by my decision that FFX-2 was a fun albeit Charlie’s Angelish addition to the FF series.)
